Things are getting very interesting in the TRAC as the softball season inches closer to the playoffs. While Clovis North and Central are currently tied for the top spot in the league, the rest of the teams still have a lot to say before the season wraps up. The latest twist in the TRAC happened on Friday when Clovis East came out with a 3-2 upset over Clovis North (5-1).
Sophomore Chloe Solis pitched in five innings for Clovis East. She allowed five hits and struck out four batters. Senior Julia Schulze pitched two innings, allowing two hits and striking out three batters in the Timberwolves’ win. Carly Arredondo went 2-for-3 in the win with two RBI and a double.
For Clovis North, sophomore Jocelynn Gonzalez pitched seven innings, giving up eight hits and striking out four batters.
Clovis East now sits fourth in the league with a record of 2-4. Buchanan is in third (3-3). Clovis West is also 2-4 and Clovis High sits at 1-5.
Clovis North will try to avoid another upset when it travels to Clovis High on Tuesday. The Broncos will then travel to Central for a critical matchup against the Grizzlies on Friday (May 3).
Clovis East will play at Clovis West on Tuesday, then host Clovis High on Friday.
