It was yet another first-place finish for Clovis North’s McKay Madsen when he competed in the boys shot put at the West Coast Relays on Saturday. The junior set a mark of 61-10.50 to take first in the contest.
Madsen’s latest achievement came a week after he set a personal best of 63’6″ at the Arcadia Invitational. That mark on April 6 gave Madsen a second-place finish.

Four shot put throwers from Clovis finished in the top five at the West Coast Relays. Buchanan’s Derek Smith took second with a personal best 58-09.50. Brayden Bitter represented Clovis North with a third-place finish (57-09.00) and Clovis High’s Troy Garlick was fifth (54-03.00). Central High’s Duke Pascoe was fourth (56-08.50).
