FSM Shoutout: Hoover Badminton, Clovis High Track, Reedley Scholar Athletes

Hoover’s badminton team has clinched the North Yosemite League title, finishing the season undefeated.

The Matilda Torres boys tennis team has advanced to the next round after defeating Woodlake 7-2 in the first round of the playoffs.

Reedley College honored 126 student-athletes at the 27th Annual Torch of Excellence Awards Banquet. The honorees all earned a 3.2 GPA or better.
Kasey Reis (Women’s Tennis) & Drew Steinhardt (Baseball) were recognized as Student Athletes of the Year. The Chancellor’s Award of Distinction (4.0 GPA for 2022 Fall & Spring semesters) was given to Drew Steinhardt and Agustin Villarreal-Sanchez (Men’s Basketball).

Clovis High’s track-and-field team enjoyed an unforgettable experience in Eugene, Oregon, competing in the 2023 Oregon Relays at the historic Hayward Field. The Cougars’ Boys 4×400 team posted one of the top results of the weekend, taking 2nd Place in their event. Sydnie Vanek also put together a mesmerizing performance for Clovis when she broke a meet record in the long jump, setting a mark of 20-7.25.

Fresno State Women’s Tennis star Pang Jittakoat continues to shine. Jittakoat has been named as Mountain West Player of the Year for the second year in a row.

Fresno City College Baseball players Christian Williams and Dean McCurley have been honored for their achievements in the classroom.

West Hills College Coalinga Softball player Denae Ojeda has been named as the March Student-Athlete of the Month. The freshman broke the single season stolen base record and the single season runs record.

Sanger brothers Michael and Matthew Bedrosian are continuing their winning ways on the tennis court. The Sanger High duo have earned the CMAC doubles championship for the second year in a row.
