In the 1990s, Tezale Archie was a standout point guard at Hoover High School in Fresno. Now, he’s back at his alma mater as the head coach of the boys basketball team and as an English teacher. Since taking the job in June, Archie has seen his players improve their work on and off the court. The Fresno native, who played at Pepperdine Univeristy after high school, talked about the progress he has seen from his team in the video below.

Mason Gonzalez wasn’t happy with his performance in recent games. But he found his rhythm on Nov. 23 in the first round of the Northern California Regionals. The sophomore scored two goals to lead Fresno City College to a 2-0 win against Cabrillo College.
“I’ve been underperforming and I’m glad that it’s finally coming together,” Gonzalez said. “I think I had a different mentality today. I think I came more prepared than I usually am. I had like a different breakfast today and tried to switch things up. It worked out well for me.”
