Central freshman Marcelo Rodriguez is looking like a seasoned vet on the mound. Rodriguez continued to show off his talent on Wednesday when he led the Grizzlies to a 9-0 win over Clovis North. The freshman earned the win against the Broncos, pitching six innings and allowing only five hits while striking out four batters.
Rodriguez also pitched seven innings against Buchanan on April 17. The young star allowed eight hits and struck out six batters in the Grizzlies 11-8 loss against Buchanan.
In a 6-5 win against Carson (Carson, CA) on March 26, Rodriguez pitched six innings, allowed four hits and struck out three batters.
The Grizzlies earned Wednesday’s win against Clovis North after losing the first game of the series 10-6 on Tuesday. The two teams will face off again on Friday. Central now stands at 3-5 in the TRAC.
Clovis High and Clovis West stand atop the league. Clovis North (4-4) stands ahead of Central in third. Buchanan and Clovis East are currently the bottom two teams as the clubs enter the second half of league play.
