Sanger West‘s softball team is off to a scorching start in the North Yosemite League. The Hornets continued their dominance on Tuesday with an 11-1 win on the road against Madera South. Although the Stallions kept the game close through the first three innings, the Hornets blew it open with six runs in the fourth.
Sanger West has won all of its league games by double digits. Before the latest victory against Madera South, the Hornets demolished Hoover 20-0. Sanger’s West undefeated league record also includes a 14-1 win against Sunnyside, 19-0 against Matilda Torres, 18-0 against Fresno High and 10-0 against McLane. The Hornets had another 20-1 victory against Hoover on March 19.
Roosevelt is also off to a strong start in the North Yosemite League with an 8-1 record. The Rough Riders’ only loss in league came on April 3 when they faced an 11-1 defeat against the Hornets.
Roosevelt will host Sanger West in a critical matchup on Thursday (April 25).
Sanger West is looking to win the league title for the second year in a row. Junior Mia Arriola is once again stepping up as one of the key players for Sanger West. Arriola was named First-Team All-League, League MVP and Team MVP in 2023.
